The Barrowbrook Frontier
Old Spice Road
The Old Spice Road was commissioned several decades ago by the king of Barrowbrook to facilitate the spice trade from Brightwood Forest. It was constructed over the course of two years, becoming an avenue of cobblestone wide enough for horse-drawn carts to pass abreast. The road ran from the free town of Entrigan in Brightwood to Pelunion, capital of Barrowbrook, passing through Caranton and bridging the River Zev at Rivercrest. The road enters Barrowbrook at Mistwick and continues on to Pelunion from there.
Since the end of the Long War, the spice trade has been reduced to almost nothing. Because of this, the road is in disrepair along much of its route. The recent upswing in the gold trade from the Goldflake Mountains has encouraged the mining companies to repair the worst parts of it, but south of the Barrowbrook wall, the road remains in relatively poor condition.
